I wonder if you are asking about the gender of nouns used to name the moon. In most languages of the world, nouns have no gender, and therefore the moon is neither masculine or feminine. Of those languages that use gender, I believe that most consider the moon feminine, such as Spanish la luna. There are few exceptions. One of these is German, where moon is masculine, der Mond.

A sexist male friend of mine told me that the moon is a woman because it has no light of its own, its light comes from another source. My response to him was that many scientists believe without the moon and its effect on the earth's tides, there would be no life on earth.

Neither.
The Moon's the North Wind's cooky.
He bites it, day by day
Until there's but a rim of scraps,
That crumble all away.
The South Wind is a baker.
She kneads clouds in her den,
And bakes a crisp new moon
that ... greedy
North ... Wind... eats ... again !
