My fave website--besides this one--is actually the online store amazon.com.

I search for books and read people's reviews for them...and what book i like i will order used...and very cheap.

I receive this magazine in my snail-mail but on this site they have some of the articles that are in the magazine. www.theweekmagazine.com You won't get all the articles but they have some on the site.

This is a cool site and magazine that takes articles from other magazines, hundreds of newspapers, etc. and condenses them down to small snippets of news from all areas: world news, science, the arts, politics, etc. It's the equivalent of reading hundreds of newspapers and magazines in a week.

And it is very unbiased, in that they post both sides of the issues. It's excellent!

I don't know what kind of content that you are looking for, but if it is an information forum like Yahoo Answers then I would highly recommend Gather.com. Gather.com has great conversations on just about any subject and Gather.com pays it's members (in the form of gift certificates to places like Borders Books & Home Depot) for adding content (your personal articles or photos), responding to other's content and for inviting new people to join for free.
