I know the UN did not and would approve the War with Iraq. But did the US need the UNs approval to go to war with Afghanistan?

Also do countries need the UNs approval to go to war, because many say the US invasion of Iraq was illegal?

ok those first two are answers make me sick. If you read about the taliban you will find out that they should have been dealt with a long time before 2002. mullah omar actually declared jihaad on the people of afghanistanin 1996. the latter part of the 90's saw over 1 million civilian deaths in that country. the taliban basically kicked the UN out of the country. the UN is not the panacea to peacekeeping. the un is almost completely funded by the US anyway. the Un is not even close to being a force to reckon with withouy the US help so don't concern yourself with whether or not thr UN authorized a damn thing.

The UN did not approve the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq but tolerated it which should not be the case because it is considered as unlawful aggression against sovereign countries.

The U.S. pays way more dues to the U.N. then any other country, when they pay it.
The U.S. did not pay U.N. dues for many years. When the U.S. wanted to go to war they started paying their back dues - to shut most everyone up- and went to war.

They are just a tool - bribes and payoffs.

The point is, that the UN is irrelevant because of their corruption.
