"Budget goobs always wonder where we should cut costs or raise taxes in order to pay for it, so here's an option or two:
1. A head tax on every fighting age adult Male AND Female who has never served (either military or civil service) or is not married to a service member.
2. Immediate forgiveness of all school-related debt (Undergrad through PhD for the top 10% of each class at all medical schools--provided they do five years in the military hospitals), or, if they opt not to serve, a 25% APR on their student loans.
3. A gas tax if $0.25 per gallon for the duration of armed conflict
4. Immediately suspend all pay and allowances for all members of congress, the supreme court, and the POTUS. It seems you need a few million to run in the first place, so there aren't any"

It goes on and if congress were to listen to this brave soldier things would get better in AMerica. A political blogger in a war zone, how rich is that?

Not really, the suggestions seem naive and confused to me.

1) SInce we got rid of the draft, there is no legal requirement for national service and that spouses are exempt makes such a tax arbitrary and dscriminatory.

2) Is coercive, ignorant of he fact that a PHd has nothing to do with a degree in medicine, and the top 10% includes research types who should be working in research on cures for cancer and a variety of other diseases.

3) We already have all kinds of taxes on gas

4) Makes no sense whatsoever and the amount raised would be a mere "drop in the bucket" compared to the cost of the War.

Also, since I am against the war in Iraq for numerous reasons, I totally object to paying for it with current taxes or any new taxes.

Most of this congress has no grasp of the job. They are passing bills loaded with pork and trying to make us look to be cowards who surrenders if the enemy harms us.
