What is the difference between the 11th edition and the 11th revised edition.

I accidentally brought the revised one by mistake. I was supposed to buy the 11th edition. I have to use the dictionary for an assignment. Will it be ok? Is there any major difference between them.

Can somebody get back to me on this quickly.

I don't think you should worry about buying the revised edition. The concise 11th came out in 2002, I believe, and rather than coming out with a whole new edition right away, the publishers probably made some additions and revisions in subsequent printings of the 11th. Buying the revised just means you get a more up to date version...newer words get added to the OED all the time.

11 edition is the 11th edition of the dictionary. Whereas the 11th revised edition is supposed to be the same edition in which a revision of certain articles has been done. Minor editions not big enough so as to be called the 12th edition. Thats how revised editions are made. Little improvements.

I dont think there will be much trouble. Until the person who has recommended u this (if there is any) knows that the particularly required thing has been changed in the revised edition... If there is no such person just go ahead and use it....

I am 99.9% certain it will be ok.

The revised edition is going to be even better than the one you were supposed to get.

Don't worry. No one will know. It will be fine.

I doubt that there is enough difference to make a difference. If you look inside the editers should tell you what changes have been made.
