You already have half of the answer in your question. It was Ferdinand Magellan, who was a Portuguese captain from Saborosa in Villa Real, Province of Traz os Montes, Portugal.

The eighteen surviving crew of the Spanish expedition led by Ferdinand Magellan were the first to circumnavigate the globe, returning to Spain on September 6, 1522.

Magellan himself did not circumnavigate the world as he was killed in Cebu (located in the present-day Philippines) in 1521.

Magellan (c. 1470 -1521) was a Portuguese navigator. His real name in Portuguese was Fernão de Magalhães.

Magellan himself is thought to have come from "(according to the somewhat questionable authority of his will, dating from 1504) at Villa de Sabroza in the district of Villa Real, Traz os Montes" in Portugual.

Where did the surviving crew come from? Spain, Portugual, Italy and similar countries. For example, there was Antonio Pigafetta (his name seems to be Italian) who was a member of the crew and who wrote an account of the circumnavigation.

Although Magellan's expedition was the first one to circumnavigate the globe, he didn't complete the expedition himself. Why? He was killed in middle of his voyage by natives of what is now the Philippines in 1521. Hence, Magellan wasn't the first man to circumnavigate the globe.

The honor of the first circumnavigation of the globe instead should be given to his crew for they are the ones who completed the trip around the world by returning to Spain alive.
