has anyone tried to consider anything such as:
-the ones working on the calendar got bored with it, therefor they didn't continue with it
-they ran out of room and didn't want to make another, considering the size of it already
-it's a mystery that only GOD knows the answer to when the last day of the Earth will be

The calendar only proves that Mayans were pretty adept astronomers. However, they simply recorded cyclic observations and extended those cycles into the future. The Mayans didn't have some secret knowledge of physics that was somehow lost to mankind. There's no reason to believe anything special will happen just because the Mayan calendar ends. Unless they have unlimited time and manpower, they have to stop somewhere, at least temporarily.
I'd compare Mayans knowledge to that of Kepler, someone who determined the patterns of planetary motion very accurately.
What Kepler and the Mayans accomplished is very different than what Newton accomplished. Newton deduced the physical laws that cause the planets to move as they did. As impressive as Newton's accomplishments might be, they're constrained to the limits of technology that existed at the time. There was no way for him to account for things like relativity since there was no way to measure things like the speed of light in various conditions.
Barring discovery of some incredible technology possessed by the Mayans that surpassed today's technology, I wouldn't put much stock into doomsday predictions.

Take a good look at our spiral galaxy in a photograph, now drop a ping pong ball in the toilet and flush it and note the resemblance. Think of that ping pong ball as our solar system.
Now look at the photo of our galaxy again and notice that it is shaped like a donut with the edges flattened out. We are going to pass through the flattened out part called the plane of the ecliptic and its dense and full of dust. When that dust enters our solar system it will make the sun extremely active. Our whole solar system has to pass through this.
I figure it will get very hot very fast and anyone living near glaciers will drown, anyone living near the ocean will drown, 300 mph winds that will blow your house away. Global earthquake and volcanic activity. Global flood that will put salt in all the land. Those that survive will die of starvation soon after. Total collapse of civilization, some survivors but can't grow food for 4 years because of all the salt in the soil. All electronics will no longer work, cars wont work..no more TV or computers or hot water or grocery stores .. back to the stone age.
Time will change for those who survive because we will be vibrating faster so we could live to 800 years old or more... but what a hard life it will be.
Oh Ya, what doesn't get flooded will burn. Don't live near a nuclear reactor. All bullets will fire on their own, pressure tanks will explode etc.

I dont know! Even scientist from Maya's thought the worls would end in 2012! I just seen a film on it yesterday! They made a calender which was meant to tell when solar eclipse's and things like that would happen! Well it spun around to a certain time and stopped at 2012 and thats when the two matched. This is caused for the end of the world!
(I dont believe it)

Life will continue regardless of personal, religious or scientific beliefs, as it has done so far, change is inevitable and often desirable as to accommodate evolution, December 24th, 2012 is just a day in the grand scheme of things...
When people realize that their is no external force out there threatening to exterminate us, and wake up to the reality that we create and shape our reality, that we collectively dream this manifestation of physicality, that basically there is no 'Out There' out there, then and only then can we worry about the end of days as we know them!

Well, you really don't need to worry. I have a Barnes & Noble calendar that runs out in Feb of 2008. The world will end then .
