Generally I find it much better than it used to be. I think Emirates and Air India have really great food. I understand Quantas is good though I've never flown with them.

The transatlantic carriers all have fairly basic food but it is certainly edible and even enjoyable on occasion.

in general it's poor. But it varies from airline to airline. and from airport to airport.

Depends on a lot of factors, but mostly who the caterer is. Not every airline prepares their own food, and often a flagship carrier will provide catering services in their home airport, under contract to other carriers.

I've had some decent food, and some awful eats too.

I have been lucky enough to travel first class and business class and the food is 5 star restaurant quality. Delicious, and worth the extra fare.
