Things I know from rumours: 2009 release, Villain will be Alien and will have the same strength as Superman. What else do you know?

From what I heard about it, Bryan Singer will be back to direct and the movie will be a lot more action and sci-fi. Lex may or may not be back. The villain seems to be General Zod. Singer wanted to put Zod in the first movie with Jude Law playing the part but, he couldn't due to scheduling, so, Singer didn't include him at all. Now, Singer says he wants the sequel to go all " Wrath of Khan ", which would imply lots of action/revenge from a previous foe.
It seems Singer's ONLY knowledge of Superman is from the Donner films and that's all he knows. None of the other villains like Parasite, Metallo, Mongul, Doomsday, Darkseid, Cyborg Superman, Brainiac, Bizarro, Silver Banshee, Kryptonite Man, Eradicator or Mr.Mxyzptlk.

it's a reboot. with a dream team of filmmakers working on the project. headlined by christopher nolan and zack snyder. from the castings that we know about, it's sounding more and more like an origin tale. and to be honest, since "returns" was said to take place ebtween 2 and 3, having the kid in the movie was a horrible faux pa. since he's never seen in superman 3 or 4.

brian singer has said everybody (including lex) is supposed to be on it, and like the original superman two he wants to use zod and the phantom zone in the story, along with another villain, which he hasnt named yet. but the rumors on message boards all seem to be pointing at brainiac. singer also has said he wants there to be alot more action in this one, so he needs a bad guy who can give supes a really good fight.

I know in the comics there was an alien called DoomsDay who was the very alien that killed Super Man before he was brought back to life some how.
