I just had a baby and named her Leigha. While we were at the hospital no one could say her name correctly, every doctor and nurse said her name completely wrong. We are debating on changing it to Leah, but I'm not sure if that will help. I didn't spell it Leigha to be trendy, I used to know someone with it spelled like that and always thought it was pretty.

NO DON'T CHANGE HER NAME!!!
Hi my name is Leigha and that is how it is spelt, I am 26 and yes at times in my life I have heard it pronounced wrong but more often I have heard "wow that’s a beautiful spelling". The female spelling is Leigh so my mom though it would be unique to add an A at the end making it Leigha. I have never met another Leigha unlike other classmates that had "common" names. It’s not your fault that other people don't take the time to think about the name before they open their mouth! Congratulations on your new daughter!!
Leigha

My middle name is Leigh, but everyone calls me Leigha. That's the way I've always spelled it. I thought about changing it, but I never could. This is the first time I've heard of someone else with that spelling. I've heard Lay-ah, and some of my friends joke around and call me Lee-gah, but it's really not that big of a deal to me. Keep her name; it's cool. And she'll probably like it being different from the usual spelling. Even if that means she'll have to correct people.

Never have seen the spelling Leigha, but found out it's just another form of Leah. I think it's fine as it - but how are people saying it - are they pronouncing the "g"?

By looking at Leigha it looks like it's pronounced Lay-ah. Leah is Lee-ah. So if you think that everyone is going to pronounce her name wrong then maybe you should change the spelling. It will be really annoying if her name is mispronounced everywhere she goes. Everyone pronounces my last name wrong and it annoys the hell out of me.

It looks easy enough to pronounce the way you have it. As a suggestion if it helps: If you spell it like : Leighah, the silent "h" on the end will make it an obvious "long ei" (with the sound ee) and people with a brain will realize that it's lee-ah and not lay-ah...i'm assuming that is how people are pronouncing it? My son's name is Hawken and everyone calls him "Hawkins"...like the last name. I correct everyone. I love the way you spelled it, too!

My friends daughter is called Leigha - Correct them, that's what she does. You'll find they won't call there the wrong name a second time.

don't change it. i like the spelling. Lots of people named Lee spell their name Leigh, so i don't understand why Leigha is that much of a stretch for them.

Well, that's the risk you run when you name your child with a non-standard spelling.
If you want to make your child's life (and yours) easier, change the spelling to the "Leah" so people will say it correctly.

Please, please do not change the spelling. My sister's name is Leigha and I LOVE it! Who cares if people get it wrong? All you have to do is correct them. And if they were smart enough....they would sound it out. Keep it the same as it is. Its beautiful.
