6x^2 + 11x - 2

One method to factor this is to use the "AC" method. Derived from a general quadratic ax^2 + bx + c, do the following:

1) Multiply a and c together. In this case, a = 6, c = (-2), so ac is equal to -12.

2) Determine two factors of -12 which add up our middle term b, 11. Notice that +12 and -1 add up to 11. Split up our middle term 11x as 12x - x.

6x^2 + 12x - x - 2

Here's where the magic happens; factor them by pairs.

6x(x + 2) - (x + 2)

Now, notice that we can now group these together. Factor this as a whole, and factor (x + 2) out of the expression.

(x + 2)(6x - 1)

And there you have it.

Generally:

ax^2 + bx -c = 0

D = b^2 - 4*a*c

x1 = (-b + D^1/2)/2a
x2 = (-b - D^1/2)/2a

ax^2 + bx -c = a(x-x1)(x-x2)

Here:
D = 169
x1 = 1/6
x2 = -2

->6x^2+11x-2 = 6(x-1/6)(x+2)

6x^2+11x-2=6x^2+12x-x-2=6x(x+2)-(x+2)=(x+2)(6x-1)).

can't help you with your math, but i might be able to give you some advice on spelling.... it is math help, not maths help

maybe you should pay more attention at school and start doing your own homework (in all subjects)
