Exercise: Increasing your level of activity (for example, taking the stairs instead of the elevator) can reduce hot flashes and have a positive impact on just about every other symptom attributed to menopause and growing older.
Soy, Flaxseed, Red Clover, vit. E & citrus bioflavanoids, Vit. A & Beta Carotene, Calcium, Magnesium, Potassium, Black Cohosh, Chase Berry, Evening Primrose, St. John's Wort, Kava Kava & Valerian, to name a few things you can do to help your hot flushes.

Some drs are finding that sometimes antidepressants can help the issue of hot flashes and such for those that can't take HRT.

I think Effexor is one of the ones that can be used for this but I would have to ask a friend of mine who had to do that since she couldn't take HRT.

And please let the dr know that you are having a hard time with the hot flushes and wanted to see what other ideas they had for dealing with this since you can't take the HRT.
