i have wireless installed on my laptop it is a toshiba but dont know how to use it ,or what it really means it says i am connected to symphony ...does it mean i can use it upstairs etc without been plugged in ? i tried this but it wont let me accsess the internet what am i doing wrong do i have to buy anything to make it work ....any help out there in simple terms please i am not computer minded

do you have a wireless router if not this is the problem you are probably connecting to another wireless connection (most likely called symphony from what you have said) from another houswe this isnt illegal or anything but you are probably to far away to use it upstairs in your house. also an isp is your internet service provider it basically the people who give you internet. it is also used in wireless by the router to tell which computers are connected etc.
if u wanna get a cheap wireless router go to http://www.pcworld.co.uk and go to networking then click on wireless routers this is what you want
