why is it we are thrown off when we are hit buy an A.C current and get stuck when its D.C current?

AC currents pulsate (low line frequencies) causing the muscles to contract and relax. DC currents are steady and cause the muscles to freeze only. High AC frequencies will have simular effect as DC since the muscles are unable respond at this rate.
