50's Fashion Question?

I'm going to a 50's theme party, and I was woundering what would be a good Fashion Icon from the 50's to look at for ideas. I am going to wear some jeans that are rolled up to my knees, but thats about as far as I got. ADVICE NEEDED!!!!

Depends on the look. The look you're going for is more of a 50's teenager/bobbysoxer. With the rolled jeans rolled up to the knees, wear flats & no socks, or keds/saddleshoes/loafers with midcalf socks that are folded down about 3 times around the ankles (bobbysox). A button-down shirt-untucked or tied up high in front. your hair in a ponytail or pigtails, with scarf in your hair or around your neck. There was a song from the 50's called "A White Sport Coat and a Pink Carnation." Pair one up with some black pants, a skinny black tie. Some suede buckskin shoes! Skip the leather jacket. Just wear tight jeans, roll them up, wear white socks with loafers, a white tee with a pack of smokes rolled in the sleeve. Just don't skip on the pink carnation, if you go that route! Converse sneakers were popular, too. I still like the idea of the suave white jacket, and I bet no one else thinks of it! Do you dare wear a crew cut? Pencil on some sideburns. Cool shades, too.
