Go to your local bookstore (or online) and purchase a copy of "Novel & Short Story Writer's Market" for whichever year. Probably 2007 by this point.

It will tell you what to do, how to format, etc. It also includes a list of agents and publishers currently accepting submissions and tells you what they are accepting. Similarly, it includes things you might want to consider like professional editors or how to prepare what you need to send it to publishing companies.

Guessing you meant finished writing, by the way.

Did you enjoy it? Did you you learn any thing from the book?
Were there parts of the book that was a bit difficult to understand. If it was did you try to find out why ? Would you like to read another book by the same writer.Your question sounds like this( I finished my holidays , now what?) Plan for the next holiday . Read another book.

Did you finish writing a book, or reading a book? If you finished writing a book, then begin writing another book and submit this book to publishers.., If you finished reading a book, then start reading another book. Maybe someday you will even write one!

Best answer is to get yourself an agent to handle submissions. Most publisher's aren't interested in books solicited by the writers. I know... went through it myself a few years ago. That was one suggestion to me. Or find out how to get it published yourself. Good luck with it!

Put it on your bookshelf. Find another book and start reading. Go to the library or the bookstore.

First, have someone edit it. Then, since most publishers wont accept it, try self-publishing. i.e. lulu, iuniverse, dogear, outskirts press etc. Hope this helps! -question001

Yeah, you probably should've thought of that before you began writing it.
