I let myself get "caught" about seven years ago and am not experiencing the "seven year itch", fact is, we are stronger than ever, it's actually NICE to share your victories and sorrows with someone.
It depends on what age bracket you and the other party are in many times, when your young and life has so much opportunity, it's still the "sampling stage".
If your with someone JUST cause you got "worn down", that's not a good sign and often you should go with your first(gut) reaction/impression. I was in a couple of "those" types and found myself in sticky(abusive and otherwise) relationships.
Good luck, just use your best judgement and have fun.
