My friend is in her late 40s and had the surgery when she was 30. She keeps getting bad stomach aches that last for 4 days, to where she needs a cane to help her walk because of the pain. She gets these about 2 and 3 times a month.

Yes you can still have scar tissue after a hysterectomy even after 17 years.

Your friend needs to go back to her dr to let them know about this pain because something more serious could be going on.

She needs to be seen by a GYNO and ask about scheduling a Diagnostic Laparoscopy. By total hyst, does your friend still have her ovaries? If so she could have either scar tissue, endometriosis, and or a hernia. Anyway you look at it she needs to be seen by a doctor. If it's not gynocological then it may be gastro.

Time to see a doctor, especially if this is a recent development.

It could be totally unrelated to the hysterectomy and serious.
