I don't know about you people, but I'm 22, piss broke, and in debt in excess of 20k, and the only job I can find that's decent around me is to work at McDonald's for 8 bucks an hour.

This article is ringing very true in my skull.

To quote an answer recieved: "The reason you can't work anywhere but McDonald's is because you probably have little or no job skills and/or little or no education"

I graduated High school, got a 2 year associate degree in computer networking. Then I went to a trade school and achieved my A+, MCP, and Network+ certifications, and then worked a job for a year and a half installing networks all over the country. They cut me (thank you mood disorders mentioned by a few other answerers)

I worked after that at a company 17 miles away (as it's the closest computer repair shop) making 8.00 an hour (did I mention the fact that at McDonald's I'm making 8.00 an hour? and also I should mention that at McDonalds, it's right down the street and with gasoline being upwards of $3 a gallon you can probably see my point here.)

Also I can code.

So, this is why I say that the only job I can find is at McDonald's. Because it's the only job that actually financially makes sense at this point.

Sweetheart, we are all in BIG trouble.

America is being set up for a big downfall by the Illuminati, International Bankers.

"If the American people ever allow PRIVATE banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks will deprive The People of all property until their children wake-up HOMELESS on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to The People, to whom it properly belongs". - Thomas Jefferson

Historical Development of Modern Feudalism: The TRUTH about your status as a slave in America. Very controversial point of view.

Banking was conceived in iniquity and was born in sin. The Bankers own the earth. Take it away from them, but leave them the power to create deposits, and with the flick of the pen they will create enough deposits to buy it back again. However, take it away from them, and all the great fortunes like mine will disappear and they ought to disappear, for this would be a happier and better world to live in. But, if you wish to remain the slaves of Bankers and pay the cost of your own slavery, let them continue to create deposits. - Sir Josiah Stamp

This is how it was done 10 years ago in Sweden. People from other countries looked at Sweden with envy during the 50’s through the 70’s, and as a model for the whole world, especially because of the country's high living standard and excellent benefits. Now Sweden is no longer on top of the list of countries of well fare states. The Illuminati created Sweden as an experiment in mind control, together with Canada, which is Sweden’s sister country in this project.

The Soviet Union had its weak points, but Sweden became a success. The government educated the children via the school system to become small social democrats (socialists), making them totally dependent upon the system, relying on that Big Brother takes care of everything.

Then came the economical collapse all over the world in the early nineties, and the Swedes were wondering what was happening and what had become of their wonderful country, where nobody had to take care of anything, and the government had cared for them all. People were very confused, frightened and sometimes desperate. The reason why the Illuminati were so pleased with Sweden was that they had found a system where people, opposed to the Soviet Union, weren’t even aware of that they were slaves.

A few years ago, when Sweden had collapsed economically, their leader went to the United States to meet with the Council on Foreign Relations to get some good advice. He came back, re-loaded for a New World Order. Today he deceives his own people by telling them that the unemployment rate is decreasing thanks to his politics. What he is actually doing is that he forces unemployed people into different courses and education which will lead them nowhere, but it removes those people from the unemployment statistics.

Also, people who do get jobs are often only temporarily employed and go from job to job and have no stable ground at all to stand on. Those people also disappear from the statistics and everything looks a whole lot better than it really is. Does this sound familiar to all you minimum wagers who have better skills than burger flipping?

The social democrats are the Rothschild’s best allies and his dearest pets. The Illuminati don’t want to decrease unemployment, just yet. They want to change strategy and create a mainstream lower class which will include most people; a preparation for the upcoming One World Government where the average citizen may be allowed to have a job, but is no more than a lower class slave with low pay (compare the old Soviet Union to get the idea), having no opportunity to oppose the system without being severely reprimanded.

You will see this happen more and more on a global scale; third world countries will increase their living standards, while developed countries will decrease theirs, until it all levels out and becomes the cornerstone of the future Global Socialist State. In a real socialistic state (the one that is being prepared for) you have no rights, and your only loyalty is to the system and its leaders.

If you look at Russia today, people suffer; they have no food, no job and no money. This is of course done on purpose, so that the people wish themselves back to the old system, where Big Brother took care of everything, when at least they had food on the table, somewhere to live, and a job to keep them busy.

Recently George Soros, the Illuminati puppet multi billionaire, was in Sweden to visit. The Government rolled out the red carpet and saluted him like a king. Later he held a speech directly on Swedish Television, where he admitted to that HE was the one who, through speculation with currency, created the chaos which led to that the interests on loans increased around 200% over night in the mid 90’s. This resulted in that Sweden became almost bankrupt, and people had to leave their homes and sell their assets to manage. He said this right into the faces of the Swedish people, like it was the most natural thing, and no-one reacted!

It is men like him the Swedish Government salute as kings. Carl Bildt (Bilderberger) said in an interview, not without pride, that George Soros was a good friend of his and that Soros had made a lot for the development in Europe and Asia, when the consequences of Soro’s acts in the mid 90’s are further restrictions in health care and mass unemployment, as the businesses had a hard time paying their debts due to skyrocketing interest, and had to fire staff.

Sweden has been acknowledged as a country which produces high quality products, and their export market has been a large income source for the country. Due to this, Sweden was almost self sufficient in the 70s-80s and the country was almost debt free. In spite of that, the former Minister of Finance, Kjell-Olof Feldt, started to borrow money from the International Bankers in the 80’s, which eventually led to that Sweden suffered from a huge debt load, the load called in by Soros.

Don’t get fooled by those who say that there is no money to get. There is plenty of it! It’s just not shared properly. If it was, everyone would be able to get a job, a good monthly pay and have a good life standard. Everything else is a lie. Instead, what we pay in taxes is mostly invested in projects that will help the government to control and suppress their citizens.

What I can offer are two things. One, IF you can, get rid of your debt load as much as you can. The IMF is going to pull the plug on America in the next 2 years and there will be financial chaos. TWO is the AARON RUSSO film, FREEDOM TO FASCISM on the illegal Income Tax System.

The market is better than it has ever been. You have got to be kidding me. The reason you can't work anywhere but McDonald's is because you probably have little or no job skills and/or little or no education. I joined the navy straight out of high school. I learned a trade (nuclear engineering.) I'm working on an education (an ABET accredited degree in Nuclear Engineering.) The best part is I am paying absolutely nothing for my degree. Even if I was I earned 101 hours of credit for my training so I'm almost done. Oh, and I earn more than I would at McDonald's. The point I'm getting at is if you are in debt and can't get a job maybe you should consider self-improvement before making wild ramblings of a new Great Depression. (Don't believe everything you read.)

P.S. For the Libs reading this G. Bush and the REPUBLICAN Congress presided over the highest closing markets in history. That's just an added comment for everyone who says the Republicans were/are destroying the country.

Yep, it sure does look that way. I'm in much the same boat....I can't find work I can do, not even part-time, that isn't about making me crazier.

Which is bad when you have student loans like I do (courtesy of trying to get that "pass for gold" and not quite making it courtesy of a mood disorder or three--not making it at work, I still got the degree).

And the pisser. I'm *40* and have been at this, struggling to *not be* in your shoes here, for the past 20 years....

Entering? Some parts of the nation, like around Southeast Missouri, have *been there* for some time, and that is the problem....the Pocket Economies keep growing in size and number, and we keep losing whole cities like Detroit and New Orleans to this crap. And for those who don't know, a Pocket Economy means you have this isolated area where all the salaried jobs are gone, the tax base is non-existent, and all that remains locally are minimum-wage, zero-perk sorts of things like those "chicken plucker" jobs Resident Dumbass in Chiefage clearly knows nothing about, the pampered little Texass Prick....

*Ahem* but I digress. Point is, in one of these Pocket Economies, the local unemployment rate goes up to 30, 40% and stays there for decades because the only jobs that are there are seasonal, temporary, and/or plantation labor pretty much. Meaning it isn't the kind of work a *single adult human* can live on without begging, borrowing and stealing. Literally.

So yeah, I'd say a Second Great Depression should really be a concern. It should be....but nooo, too many folks around here hype up _American Idol_ instead. O_O

God help us. We sure as hell aren't helping *each other*.

Hi Jason,

I think the author makes some useful points, but tends to go overboard. No, I don't think we're entering a second depression.

BUT...

I DO believe that young people are getting hosed in a major way... And here's the kicker (and you're not going to like this)... they have nobody to blame but themselves.

Why do you think so much of the budget is spent on Old People? It's not out of sympathy. Government doesn't have sympathy. It's because old people are politically mobilized. They have the most powerful and best funded Interest Group (AARP, and others) and they vote. And then they vote; and then they VOTE some more.

twenty-somethings are the most politically apathetic group in the electorate. They don't vote, they aren't organized, and by and large, they are totally uninformed about politics. As I told you, government doesn't do for senior citizens because of sympathy or any noble motive, they do it because they're intimidated by the political power of the senior citizen lobby.

Bottom line, government only responds when it is faced with an organized, well financed group who know how to target power to achieve results. Old people have this; young people do not. Thus, THEY win, and YOU lose.

You want results? Fine. Get out the vote. Get organized, GET MOVING. Government won't respond to rants and raves, it responds to power. And so long as young people remain disinterested and disengaged they'll continue to get hosed. That's the bottom line, no BS truth.

Cheers, mate.

But you do have the freedom to try harder. In some countries people don't have that freedom. No I don't see a second great depresson comming unless the liberals win the white house and pass their much promised tax increases. All I can tell you is try to think positive and keep looking, something good will happen for you. When I was in that situation about 20 years ago I sat down and made a list of positives things I needed to do to better my situation. Please don't think the government is going to help you or be angry with it for not making things better for you. Too many are dependent on the government. I worked my azz off and went back to school and learned a trade and have done ok. But for four years I sacrificed my social life so that someday I could have a good one. Your destiny is in your own hands depends on how hard you are willing to work to make your life better. The jobs are out there.

Keep buying products that are made in other countries. When they raise the minimum wage, anyone that makes more will suffer. Inflation will increase as small businesses have to charge more to pay for low pay employees. Prices will go up but the rest of us will not be making any more $, so we will have much less buying power. Go to college so you can get a better paying job and suffer like the rest of us. It beats flipping burgers plus you'll meet a lot of great people. Thank your lucky stars there aren't debtor prisons anymore. Why do you owe $20k when you can't pay it back? The interest alone will kill you. Unload those things you can't afford and pay off some of that debt. Interest sucks.

in order for the US to be in an acutal depression.. we must have a huge drop in the stock market as well as extreme nation wide unemployment... we have neither at the moment.. and don't forget that we would need to see the cost of living skyrocket... with pay decreasing... Inflation and interest rates must also skyrocket.. we haven't hit that point yet.

Do I think we could be on the verge of one. .. yes.... do I think it will happen over night.. no....

Many areas are seeing a decrease in jobs.... as well as housing markets starting to stagnat.... and let's not forget the HUGE number of foreclousers.....

Is our country having financial issues.. yes.. and just who do you think you can thank for that..

I was thinking about this yesterday. It's as if we've been reenacting the early 20's all over again. We're all about credit, and nobody is about paying it. It started in the 90's and probably doesn't have much steam left.
