I am originally from Texas and now I am living in Georgia. Most black people I have talked to in Texas consider the Conferderate Flag as a symbol of racism, and a majority of people here in Georgia that I have talked to disagree, they view that flag as a symbol of southern pride and heritage. What do you view as the Confederate Flag as? (This is not intended to be a racist question, so I would perfer no racist answers.)

Black Rage answered: "You need to ask yourself what that so-called Southern Pride and Heritage is that the flag is a symbol of. " I personally don't believ that the flag stands for southern pride, that was said by a few black people I know here in Georgia. Next time you answer a question, read it first so you wont look like such a jackass!

I see the Confederate Flag as a terrible time in U.S. history when we were almost torn apart as a Country, and more men were killed in that war than in any other war America ever fought. I see the Confederate Flag as a sign of Rebellion, and that is a very negative thing.

Most people don't like the Mexican People flying their flag. they say that "This is the United States of America."

Well, the South aka "The Confederate States of America" lost the Civil War. Why, then, must the Southerners insist on flying their flag??? I don't understand why the Confederate flag is allowed to fly anywhere in these United States.

The Confederate flag represents the South's desire to separate from the Union. The Flag along with the slogan that "The South Will Rise Again."

Why did the South fall??? It fell over the issue of Slavery. They didn't want to get rid of their African Slaves.

You need to ask yourself what that so-called Southern Pride and Heritage is that the flag is a symbol of. The Pride is "White Pride" and the Heritage is "White Supremacy." White Pride has always been accompanied with hatred and hostility for every other race and White Supremacy is the belief that White People are naturally inclined to rule over all of the darker people of the planet. Thus, the Confederate Flag is the banner for White Racism.

Again, this is the Unite States of America and not the Confederate States of America. The Confederates lost the War so they need to get over it and let the Confederate flag go.

I won't go as far as saying that the confederate flag is a "symbol" of racism but it does bring back flashbacks of the times where slavery, racism and segregation were prevalent.
I don't think a black person can look at a confederate flag and not feel a bit uneasy. It's maybe in our heritage but not from a part we consider southern pride.
I can see why others (mostly southern whites) don't see it as such. It was their flag, with the good, bad and the ugly.
Unfortunately for me (and probably for a lot of blacks as well), it was only ugly.

A lot of southern pride and heritage is based in racism. A flag is still only a flag. What's important is what that flag means to different people and how it's waved. Since the confederate flag is still represented on a couple of state flags, I'll accept the idea of heritage but it doesn't mean I have to believe it.

I think some people would look at the flag of the CSA as most of the world would look at the Nazi swastika. A truly symbol of hate. Also so some people the Star of David is a symbol of displeasure.

Since the CSA lost the war and Nazi Germany lost the war. both symbols of hatred should be abolished.

But now it has been a long time since the Civil War and we are still fighting this war over and over...its more then a flag as its a symbol showing that the south does not consider they lost the war.

Its not a symbol of hate, its a symbol of Rebellion and new life. Which is exactly what the North needed, a kick in the *** to show that they can't push everybody else around.

Thomas Jefferson would've loved the Confederacy.
