{-1/3, -5}

{-5/3, -1}

{5/3, 1}

{-2/3, -3/2}

I figured it would be (5/3, 1). Not too sure about that though...

This, again, can be solved by factorisation:

3x^2+ 16x + 5 = 0
3x^2 + 15x + x + 5 = 0
3x(x + 5) + 1(x + 5) = 0
(3x + 1)(x + 5) = 0

Either 3x + 1 = 0 (or) x + 5 = 0
x = -1/3 (or) x = -5
x = -1/3, -5

The answer is {-1/3, -5}

3x^2 + 16x + 5= 0
first you have to factorise the equation
(3x + 1)(x+5) = 0
Either 3x + 1 = 0 or x+ 5 = 0
x= - 1/3 , x= -5

when x= -1/3 when x= - 5
y= 0 , y= 0

therefore if you have to put it in coordinates form your answer will be (-1/3,0) & (-5,0)

3x^2+16x+5=0
3x^2+15x+x+5=0 [Splitting 16x=15x+x]
3x(x+5)+1(x+5)=0
(3x+1)(x+5)=0 [Factorising with the factor (x+5)]
So
x={-1/3, -5}

3x^2+15x+x+5=0
(3x+1)(x+5)=0
3x+1=0
x= -1/3
Or
x+5=0
x= -5
I figured it would be {-1/3, -5}

3x^2+ 16x + 5 = 0, factorize the equation:

( 3x + 1)*(x + 5) = 0

then:
3x + 1 = 0, x = -1/3 or
x + 5 = 0, x = -5

x ={-1/3, -5}

2007-04-28 02:50:49 · answer #5 · answered by Anonymous · 0 0

3x^2 + 16x + 5 = 0
Use factorisation...
(3x + 1)(x + 5) = 0
(3x + 1) = 0 or (x + 5) = 0
3x = -1 x = -5
x = -1/3

So the answer is (-1/3, -5).

why do you say that x = 5/3 or 1?

3x^2+ 16x + 5 = 0
(3x+1)
(x+5)
(3x+1)(x+5) = 0
3x+1=0 or x+5=0
3x=-1 x=-5
x=-1/3

(3x + 1).(x + 5) = 0
First or second bracket must = 0:-
x = - 1/3
x = - 5
First answer is the solution required.
