In general, you access the Borland Database Engine (BDE) and use that to access the whatever database you link to. However, you need to setup the BDE first with the proper datasources and drivers (native, or ODBC).

create and set the connection to your Database in the runtime, including all components you're using, eg. TTable, TQuery and TDabase (assuming you're using BDE as your db connection)

additional :
You can use Data Module for your database components if you didn't want to create the components in the runtime.
