Hm. An _obscure_ "part of fortune" indeed. :-)) As I recall, this part is supposed to be your "Mission on Earth" and is determined by its being directly opposite the Natal Sun. However, the author who presented that (dare I use the word?) "titalating" (sic?) definition never really got around to explaining it exhaustively by House, Sign, and Element. I recall mentally "tinkering" with it for quite a while...then eventually gave up on it. I had to presume it to be a "pop" creation that was intended to sell books, not necessarily inform since I never was able to apply anything that author had written to any actual event-manifestation in my Nativity. You see, the natal positions Promise...and in some cases will spontaneously "deliver" that promise. Even if the promise is 'less-than -desireable'. And what is opposite the Sun (which can rule fevers, constitutional ailments, publicity, or even "overall success")? Oppositions define quarrels followed by losses (per William Lilly). This is why the Part of Divorce is directly opposite Venus in any Nativity. There is a formula for a different Part of Earth (a pars fortuna from ancient times). The formula is ASC + Jupiter - Saturn. I find it has some relation to seismic activity...but I'm still working with it. Good luck on your Quest for Knowledge.

note that the correct spelling is "titillate",
· (verb)
if something titillates someone, it pleases and exites them, especially in a $exual way; it is usually used to show disapproval.
for example:
Magazines with lurid covers that are made to titillate the readers.
