I am 21 and my periods are pretty regular. I used a douche after my period ended in febuary and I haven't had a period for march and april. Is it possible that the douche has made my periods stop?? I know I am not pregnant because I haven't had sex in awhile. Can anyone help??

I doubt the douche caused your periods to stop and if you don't get it soon you need to see the doc. Do not ever douche without a doctors order though. Douching disrupts the PH and normal bacteria in the vagina making you very suceptible to vaginal infections. The vagina is a self cleaning oriface so no douching, not feminine sprays and no soaps or body washes should be used in this area.

Unless you haven't had sex since X-mass you should still do a preg test. Then you need to call your GYNO and schedule an apt. If you have made any major changes to diet or exercise, or been under more stress than usual, these could be the real reason you aren't having a cycle. The doctor may also want to check some of your hormone levels such as TSH, FSH, etc. Be sure to use protection, just because you aren't bleeding doesn't mean you aren't still ovulating. Just one more thing... the vagina is a self cleaning organ. You shouldn't use a douche unless advised by your doctor. Douching can actually push bacteria into the uterus causing serious infection.

A douche is generally bad for your micro flora (which means you can cause Yeast infections by it), but it definitely cannot stop your period. It is probably stress or a flu (did you have any other health problem lately?), or a temporary hormonal disbalance. Also, if you are very stressed about it, this can delay your period. So, just relax for now. Nothing bad happened! Just forget about it and it will come! If this however repeats, you will have to consul a GYN to see what is the problem.

It would be a very strange douche to stop your periods. I doubt there is a connection. There isn't any real reason to use douches anyway but they just aren't "powerful" enough to do anything so extreme. There must be another reason. You may have cyst or something. See your OB/GYN to get checked out.

If you have started to exercise a lot they can go away. Also if you have lost a lot of weight. I'm sure douche wouldn't make your periods go away.

TINKERBEL,
YOU MAY THINK THAT DOUCHING IS GOOD, BUT IT IS REALLY REDUNDANT. TRY GETTING YOUR PERIOD BACK ON SCHEDULE AND SEE THE RESULTS OF NOT DOUCHING.
