Certain animals are able to detect different variations of things humans cannot perceive. In other words, the "crunching" sound rock makes when pressure is causing it to be squeezed and compressed. Birds can hear this quite well lab tests have shown. Humans cannot because the decibel level is almost non-existent until right before the rock cracks--i.e. the earth quakes. Also, sometimes gases are released as fissures appear before the real shake up. Animals being closer to the ground and having much better olfactory systems can smell the odors of these gases when humans cannot.

The animals are not predicting anything, they are simply responding to pre-quake things the earth does that humans cannot detect. And humans still continue to call animals inferior species.

Just compare the smelling capability of police dogs. The dogs in India barged for day and night before the Tsunami attack. The fishes in the mid sea came to shore two days before the Tsunami attack,The elephants moved in land from Ceylon and Thailand forest . we at the place near maximum destruction took place in India the water flashed from a pond one hour before Tsunami struck our coast, I myself sensed the earthquake waves 2 hours before it struck our coast even though I alerted the local T.V they simply ignored my warnings. No body can predict it . But there are some precursor that may help to understand in certain circumstances only. The sensing capacity of animals and birds are more than human.

Animals have to rely entirely on their natural senses for all of their needs for safety, feed, water etc. They have a LOT of practice in relying and fine-tuning those same senses. They can feel things like global pressure waves, slight trembling of the crust, and so fourth. They have the enviable status of being pretty much prim-ally and exquisitely "Natural Sensitives". Someday soon we will wake up too and remember who we really are and were, and then we, too, will become, once again, naturally sensitive as a species.

Could it be because their senses are more acutely developed and they are sensitive to sounds and smells that we can't process. We are also distracted by our lives, and they are closer to the earth.
