withthese two falls hes suffered a hematoma and acat scan found a pooling of blood that was causing tremendous pressure on his brain so a neurosurgeon operated and drained the blood from dads brain and reliveed the pressure,now dads in a rehabilitation hospital recuperating,they are giving him speech therapy and other kinds of therapy to help him. dad was acting so weird after his two falls that my mother thought his alzhiemers was getting worse. what did hapen was that due to the pressure on dads brain he had a mini stroke.heres the problem,my mother is in a state of complete denial and thinks that my father did not have a brain injury and should be home so she can care for him.she herself will be operated on for a reconstruckted knee and i would like to see how shes going to care for dad this way! any suggestions? i say that dad should stay put and his doctors should be the ones to give the okay as to when dad should go home. withpeninhand33

I understand that your Mom really misses your Father...-but with medical issues of her OWN to deal with- I agree with YOU that it should be up to you Dad's doctors to decide when it would be best for him to return home. See if you can "buy alittle time" with your Mother- by suggesting she wait & see how her knee surgery goes, before she thinks about bringing him home. She might just change her mind.

First. i'm so happy you have both you mother and father with you, how they managed to live a long life. I really am.

I agree that you should just buy time with your mom, let her know that she should get her knee fixed up then when she does she can help your dad. don't just say no you cant, u have to play along with it. good luck

check in on having a full time home health aid they usually cost the same as having them in the nursing home. you can go thru agencies the people working for them have been thru training and background checks. having an full time aid will be there for both of your parents and your father can continue getting his thearpy they will just come to the home
