A person I know was recently approached by his ex, stating that he was the father of her baby.

When they got together, she was still married, but seperated from her husband. She ended up getting pregnant, and stated that it was her husband's child, and gave DNA test proof of this once the child was born. Then, 7 years later, she claims that the document she showed him was a false copy of a DNA testing that she made herself.

He has accepted the child as his, without asking for a DNA test be done again, this time for real. Is voluntarily paying her money each week to help out with the child. Takes care of her other children while she does her thing. And furthermore, he has decided to persue a relationship with this woman again.

I think he's crazy to trust this woman, and just accept her word that the child is his. Regardless of if she is telling the truth this time or not, there is no way I could have any nice feelings or trust in her or want a relationship.
What would u do?

He needs to go to the court house and request a DNA test. Believe it or not there are a lot of woman out there that will make this kind of thing up just so they can steal some guys money. He shouldn't be so nieve. He needs to protect himself first. There could be other men out there that think its their kid too. Don't be so foolish.

Sounds like your friend really wanted kids of his own. It sounds like, he either really wants it to be his, or really cared for this women at some point.

With that being said, I agree with you...If she falsified documents in the past why wouldn't she continue to do so now? Who I really feel sorry for is the child. Can you imagine how confused that child must be? Oh well, you live you learn and unfortunately it sounds like your friend wants to learn for himself right now, for whatever reason.

As his friend, no matter how completely dense you believe he is being right now. You need to just be there for him. Because once he becomes attached to that child if for some reason it turns out it's not his...He'll probably be crushed. Good luck and tell your friends, he's lucky to have someone like you that cares about him and is concerned for his well being.

Love is such a powerful emotion. Makes you blind to the bad things. These things happened in the past, maybe she has changed..? Up to him if he wants a DNA test or not, if he loves her and the kids then maybe it won't make any differance.

I'd say "prove it!!!" Before I start shelling out money for child support I'd want to know if it was in fact my child. Then if it turns out to be mine, I'd want to start building a relationship with him/her & reassure them that although I wasnt there for the first 7 years of their life, I would always be there for them.
