Crankiness is a symptom of a larger problem. Try to find the source and work through it together. Then your relationship will be very strong.

I am going through the same thing. Feels like nothing is right anymore. Not to mention he is TRYING to make his family hate me. As well as friends. And hates it when I work or go somewhere...

SO... perhaps if things don't improve we should get someone who can be nice and talk to us... and treat us like ladies. Tough though when we fall in love with them. However what should be the cost of love... being a doormat??? HECK NO!!! I think we should lay it all on the line, and if they love us... then they will change. If not then we don't belong with these men in our lives.

Cross my fingers for you...

By saying partner, I am assuming that you are not married. With that in mind, think about what it would be like spending the rest of your life with someone who is mistreating you. Sometimes verbal abuse turns into physical abuse. Are you willing to take that chance?
I suggest that you get out while the getting is good.

I have the exact same problem. I wish I knew the answer. My husband is miserable all the time. I can't stand him anymore because of it. I would get out if I could. So, I'd suggest you do the same. He won't change. They never do.
