Lots of eggs end up getting eaten. For that matter, most human zygotes pass out of the body without attaching to the uterine wall (more than 50%). It is ridiculous to consider these or any other failed gamete a new life simply because fertilization occurred. Lots of fertilizations are unsuccessful.

Of course, baby chicks also get eaten, but it is hard to argue they are not a "new life."

creation of the womb for the egg, and the creature which has the womb
creation of the food for the creature that has the womb
creation of the earth for there to be food
creation of the astral bodies which give the earth light and heat and keep it in position
creation of the purpose for the egg....etcetera

your "teachers" expect you to say d. fertilization of the egg
but they are just repeating what they were taught, they don't really know if they insist those are the only options
