One possibility is that the Bulb's filament is broken on one end.
They'll make intermittent contact,,,,and flicker on/off due to vibrations from engine revs,,or bumps in road, etc
Just as easy to simply replace the bulb....
But you can also test it.
Remove bulb and hook it an Ohmmeter,,then thump it.
If meter jumps,,filament is broken.
Often you can SEE the filament vibrate like a spring at one end.
Hold it up to a good light, look closely,,,and thump it.
Strange but True,,,and it's not unsual to happen.
The filament does not Burn,,,like a typical "Blown/Burned Bulb".
It just Breaks, usually at one end where it's welded to the contact post.
Good Luck with it.

Probably a dirty connector, The bulb is corrode on the end, the socket is corroded, the spring in the socket is weak or broken or the filament in the bulb is bad. Vibrations from the motor is causing the problem to get worst. Do a "wiggle test" in other words with the light on start wiggling wires, and parts till you find the problem. And dont over look the switch itself.

Plug the stock tail light back in and check for the problem. If the problem goes away, then somethings up with the (ufo) tail light. That will narrow down your troubleshooting.

Maybe you have a loose connection or your key switch needs to be replaced.Serriously check the switch because after time they wear out and do things like that from all the vibration
