I live in the midwest and do think it is the Red Sox/Yankees in all of baseball mainly because the teams don't like each other and both teams fans are passionate about their clubs and baseball in general. Plus the fan rivalry fuels the on field rivalry and it gets a lot of press. I actually enjoy when these teams play.

A close second has to be the Cubs/Cardinals and for the same reasons as the rivalries above, it's this rivalry doesn't get the media attention the Red Sox/Yankee rivalry.

A Brewers fans who hates the Cubs!

Red Sox vs. Yankees would be the best rivalry, because they have been around for more than a century, and both of them are very good teams.

Coming from the days of radio between Chicago's WGN and St. Louis's KMOX, it has been said by historians that you could draw the line between Cubs and Cards fans based on the areas that each respective station would transmit the games to. The Cubs-Cards rivalry stretches more than a half-century, and the blood between these NL foes generated itself into the most heated rivalry in the NL, which was the best league in professional baseball for over a century, dating back to its inception in 1876.
Modern fans can notice the bad blood that continues to stem, as if the managers and players of now can channel this Midwestern mele from fomer greats like Curt Flood and Ernie Banks. One need only look at the brawls they've created over the last decade or so to see the fury losing to the enemy causes in both clubs. The great commentary from each clubs station has created legends of mythic status in the forms of the late Harry Caray at WGN and Jack Buck at KMOX. Both were immensly-love personalities who were as devoted to their clubs as the listeners, and the long-driven devotion by these original NL clubs must make this rivalry no less than "one of the oldest and most fanatical series in sports and has a history of being good for the game.."

Dodger vs. Giants it has gone back and forward and isn't that what its all about. not just dominating a team for 3/4 of a century. ask maricha about hitting rosboro in the head with the bat. or tommy lasora about fighting the giants coaches when he was a third base coach. or how they both knock each other out of the playoffs. or the sign in the clubhouses that said love the angels hate the giants. or jackie robinson being traded to the giants an rather than play with them he retired.
