Let's see - the Iraq war, Republican corruption, a state of artificially induced fear which is exactly what the terrorists want...

I pretty much take it as a compliment even when people try to insult me because I know they're trying to compensate for how stupid they feel right about now.

I can't imagine why anyone would ever, or could ever be ashamed to be a liberal. We are the enlightened ones. As a group, we don't all agree on all issues, but we are the compassionate ones, and we care about changing things for the betterment of all. There is nothing even remotely shameful about that! *sm*

Hey, This is? Know the difference between President of the United States and head of foreign aid programs? Know the difference between 'possibly being linked to' and admitting to having sex in the Oval Office of the White House? Know the difference between proven facts and Liberal Witch Hunts? No? Time for beddie-by little man!!

We have a very liberal government in Oregon---unfortunately--- and they are making a mess out of what was once a great state to live in.
To show everyone how much he really cares, our governor had his picture in the papers showing him accompanying a woman on food stamps through a store so he could see how hard it was for her to make it on food stamps. What the news paper article failed to mention (Oh! Surprise! Surprise!) was the fact that they were in one of the higher priced grocery stores and that the "poor" woman makes $35,000 + per year and is getting food stamps because her husband hasn't worked since last year!! BOO HOO!!!
Now our Liberal govenor and our liberal legislature want to give our "kicker" money (which is money owed to the tax payers of the state because we overpaid a record amount over the legal amount for them to keep) to people who never paid taxes in the first place. That is money that is suppose to be returned to tax payers because we were the ones who paid it in. We already have our share of welfare and handout programs paid for by the tax payers. Now they figure we just gave them $100 for a loaf of bread and they are intitled to give our change to whom ever they want to. Why? To buy votes?
Concerned with the enviroment? Our liberal legislature gave a permit to a mill owner (also a liberal) to drain three old log ponds in the area. Our law is that in order to drain a wetland, you have to provide one larger than the area drained to compensate for the ones drained--however the last one drained was the mediation pond (the one that they said had to be there to compensate for the other two.) It was a beautiful 100 acre pond--29 feet deep, full of catfish, large mouth bass and chub--IOW trash fish!! Thousands of them were dumped into a salmon test creek that flows into the Umqua River---also salmon, steelhead, trout habitat. At the same time, there is a man with a 15' wet spot in his pasture that he wanted to fill in to smooth out his pasture and is not allowed to touch it because it is a WETLAND. A person at the Dept. of Fish and Wildlife told me that it wasn't right but that if you had the money that the mill owner does, you can buy your way through the legislature.
Now they are thinking of passing a law allowing dogs in restaurants because some wacko likes eating with his dog!!
We pass laws and they ignore them and go right on doing what they want.
Our liberal ex-govenor was paid over $1,000,000 for lobbying for SAIF which is suppose to be our workers-comp ins. Don't get hurt on the job in Oregon!!! All you get is kicked around until you give up.
Every night in the paper or on the news are more examples of liberal stupidity, corruption and greed. Don't give me any of your holier-than-thou crap!! I live with your liberalism every day.

I am really a pragmatist, though I am Independent and vote Democrat most of the time. Most would call me a liberal, though I have some strong conservative held positions, like the 2nd Amendment! Call me a liberal! At least you are for people and not your own wallet!

I figure the rich get too many welfare contracts from the Feds. We've made 500 new millionaires off of our welfare contracts in Iraq!

Sen. John F. Kennedy, acceptance of the New York Liberal Party Nomination, September 14, 1960.

What do our opponents mean when they apply to us the label "Liberal?" If by "Liberal" they mean, as they want people to believe, someone who is soft in his policies abroad, who is against local government, and who is unconcerned with the taxpayer's dollar, then the record of this party and its members demonstrate that we are not that kind of "Liberal."

But if by a "Liberal" they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people -- their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties -- someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a "Liberal," then I'm proud to say I'm a "Liberal."

Iraq war
--21 million people freed from barbaric governments
--genocide stopped
--WMD programs ceased
--terrorist training camps closed
--10,000+ terrorists killed dead

(And liberals think we lost!)

Republican corruption
--To date, not a single republican convicted of corruption

(But let's not let the facts get in the way of an entertaining conspiracy theory!)

A state of artificially induced fear
--conservatives aren't living in fear
--liberals are terrified, though mostly by bedtime stories

(I don't blame them. They face a future of embarrassment.)

And we assail Clinton for?

Randall Tobias, head of the Bush administration's foreign aid programs, abruptly resigned Friday after his name surfaced in an investigation into a high-priced call-girl ring.

I am definitely not ashamed to be liberal - in fact, as a democratic socialist, I am proud to be Far Left (but I'd probably be considered "Normal" in Scandinavian Europe).

Where conservatives seek only to take care of themselves, and identify only with those who are similar with them to promote security for themselves, & are content to see the rest of the world rot in hell as long as they can have their own "freedoms" & way of life, and so their focus is always on their own Country & their own personal good......

...liberals understand that we have to take care of each other in order to preserve society & ourselves, we seek to identify with or at least respect those who are different from ourselves to promote peace & security for all, & we realize that we are all a part of the world, and if the world goes to hell, we'll also eventually go to hell along with it, and so the freedoms & ways of life of all people are interconnected, so our focus includes not only our own Country, but also All Countries, and both Personal Good & the Common Good are equally important.... because ultimately, they are intertwined.

The conservative vision is usually very narrow & limited - as you can see for yourself from many conservative answerers everywhere on Y/A!.

Liberalism will be the death of whatever country it infects! Just look how far from grace damn near all European countries have fallen since they became so damn liberal!
Liberalism seems like a great and humanly justifiable concept, except in the real world if fails miserably! Even look how shitty the US has become since liberalism took hold in the 60's! We have seriously been going down hill since then!

When I get "thumbs down" or the stupid troll who follows me around calling me a "liberal puke", I know that I have hit a nerve. Makes me proud!

I already know I'm intelligent, and I've been around long enough to really KNOW what I believe in, so: sticks and stones.....
