The factor of :
36 = 2 x 2 x 3 x 3 = 2^2 x 3^2
54 = 2 x 3 x 3 x 3 = 2 x 3^3
180 = 2 x 2 x 3 x 3 x 5 = 2^2 x 3^2 x 5

The GCF (greatest common factor) is
2 x 3^2 ===> 2 and 3^2 are present in 36,54 and 180
2 x 3^2 = 2 x 9 = 18 ===> the answer

First, find the prime factorization for each number.

36=2*2*3*3
54=2*3*3*3
180=2*2*3*3*5

What they have in common is 2*3*3 which is 18.
