4 will be morose chick music (Tori Amos, Fiona Apple), 4 will be angry heavy metal, and the last 4 will be pop. I'm hoping the final years of my life will be soft, easy listening music.
The highlight of my life so far would be a song that had elements of all 4 genres I mentioned...crazy, I know, but that's me. All over the place.

I think I'd like some Vivaldi for the elated moments and Spiritual epiphanies and some Opera for the dramatic. The rest could be singer/songwriter pop/rock. I would want Jason Mraz to write it and the tracks would all be performed live. Lyrical GENIUS!
The carrier single is "God Rests in Reason" by the great Mraz.

Jazz - and some classics ranging from Mozart to Stravinsky etc. But no Gospel, babe, except for the rhythms and chords. Maybe if there was any single to choose it would be Bix Beiderbecke, or an Australian trumpeter mate called Keith Hounslow for the lyrical joy; and Stravinsky's Rite of Spring or Petrouchka for the defiant assertion of life. Any of those would keep me alive.

Mostly pop, with a touch of rock and classical. Carrier single would be "It Had to be You" -- for the wonderful man I was married to for 12 years.

Alot of Contemporary Christian/worship music mixed with hardcore angst filled rock and heavy metal. The Christian would feed the angst and visa versa.
Then classical, Indian, and more Contemporary Christian. And this is only about the last 10 years of my life!
My single....Stand in the Rain, by Superchick (it's about drawing strength from God to stand firm through the hells- the 'storms' in one's life)

nicely, if this replaced into asked approximately 2 months in the past, i'd've suggested Rap and Rock. yet now that isnt the case. I want Symphonic Rock, that's amazingly distinctive then widespread rock, i admire Orchestras, Bagpipes, each each now and then I pay attention to Gospel, each each now and then its Piano. theory, out of all and sundry, I want jap music, oftentimes hip hop.
