I have been getting stressed communicating with one of my colleagues. He has the bad habit of interrupting before complete instructions are given. How do I sort this out?

people can absorb different amounts of information -- especially in serial instructions.

Maybe your instructions are too long or too convoluted. Have you tried writing down the instructions? Some people respond better to text than they do to oral directions.

You are a woman, he is a man. Could be some gender issues there for him, that make the communication less effective.

Look at posture, tone, look at whether you communicate to him in front of others, (where he might feel belittled or criticized) or one on one.

Lastly (and sadly) men are socialized to interrupt and be aggressive, so you may need to remind him that this is not the waterhole and you are not defending the kill -- you both work for the same Uncle and let's get the job done.

You might learn a few useful things about your communication style from him -- we often learn a lot from those we "rub the wrong way". So don't "write him up" -- what a childish response. Try to learn what the real issues are.

Good luck!

Just tell him to stop interrupting you. "please stop interrupting me, if you have any questions wait until I finish explaining everything"

I had a co-worker that would always say "Well, in my opinion it should be done this way" as I was trying to train him. I finally told him, "until you learn this system, you don't have an opinion". He stopped interrupting me.

all of them favor to easily party & confirm they say not something to her about one yet another. merely be pleasant & say only the mandatory, 'solid morning, effective day, did you've a effective evening, etc, merely time-honored chit chat. in the different case they could say to her 'why do you keep stirring' attempting to get us into worry & act slightly off hand to her, yet all of them ought to do it, or, the perfect element is to all of them party & see the government mutually & tell him that she's bringing morale down through appearing in this kind. they ought to inform the reality besides the indisputable fact that. it really is fairly what they ought to do. he will be extra in contact that they are all not satisfied and must have a be conscious along with her.

If you are giving the instructions tell him to shut up and listen and then kick him in the **** when he gets it wrong.

You will have to do that verbally and not physically.

the next time he interrupts, make sure you make the remark: "can you / wait till i am finished please."

trust me, my friend is a talkitive person and she tends to interrupt a LOT. and i tell her when she interuppts,"wait hold on let me finish" or sometimes i just say "shh lemme finish"
trust me i have the same problem.
