too funny !!

Since we believe the universe had a starting point, it is entirely possible it will have an end. One scenario, called the Big Crunch states that when the universe stops its expansion, it will ever so slowly at first, but gaining speed as it goes, will begin to collapse. Eventually, it will become an infinitely small point of infinite density and infinite temperature. Will it then begin the cycle all over again with another Big Bang? Who knows?

Cool !

Not next week. Theoretically, the universe will never end (see Astro for another view), but it has finite energy, and as this is expended, the universe should grind to a slow halt. Right now, things don't look that way, which may mean that energy is being expended faster than the rate of expansion of the universe.

Most recent research and observations (..WMAP mission..) strongly implies that the universe will continue to expand and exist indefinitely.

They do know that it will happen on a Thursday, about a quarter to two, but they don't know for sure which Thursday.

The math's pretty complicated.
