all for entertainment, you cant feel a real connection with someone you have never met, they will be totally different than what you expected when you actually meet them

I think they are what you make of them.
Personally, I met my husband online and we've been married 8 yrs now. I wouldn't change a thing.
But if you are using it for entertainment only, you may be hurting someone that is not using it for entertainment but has a real reason to be searching for someone online. For instance, I know a physician that just doesn't have time to meet all the women his friends try to introduce to him and he has no real basis to determine if he would even be interested in persuing a relationship with them or not until he has spent a lot of time and money on them. So he has a profile online and says it works better for him because they don't know he's a physician so they aren't looking at the dollar signs, and he gets to know them a bit online before dating.
He likes it.
So for some people, it's a great way to meet people. For others, it's a way to deceptively look for someone they aren't interested in anyway.

I have done it for one thing I dont go to bars or clubs(I dont do alcohol)!
I have met a few very nice women but our Lifestyles did not jive.I am single no children never married and my home is a very small cottage on a lake.So to get serious with someone with kids is not good for both of us.I am free to go traveling whenever I like to and I do as often as I can so that puts damper on things too.
My friends have given up because all the ladies they know have children and good careers and I never ask for someone to give up for me!
So yes I do look online and maybe it may happen!

I don't even bother with it. It is always a chance of it being some old smelly guy in a wife beater and stained underwear.
