Gee I could name at least 100 Zappa zongs that fit that description. My favs (all Zappa) would be live version Kosmik Debris (Does Humour Belong ...), My Guitar Wants To Kill Your Momma (You Cant Do That On stage Anymore Vol 4) and Whipping Post live (Does Humour Belong ... again).
However Hendrix's Little Wing is pretty hot too.

I'd say "Bell Bottom Blues" (the solo Clapton version from "24 Nights" is probably the best of all versions).
If you count bass guitar: "Anesthesia (Pulling Teeth)" by Metallica played by Cliff Burton.

Juthro Tulls......... Aqualung.... Martin Bars guitar piece to me has been my favorite. One other is Mark Knoflers piece in Sultans of Swing by Dire Straits. About time someone asked this question....Thanks

probably one that no one has heard. if its not played on the radio, chances are, youll never hear it. of the ones people have heard, david gilmores solo on the live version of on the turning away is my favorite. just cause theyre fast, dont make them good.
