Trying to adapt European lifeways to an area that isn't compatible with them. There weren't half the problems with diseases such as malaria before the European colonies, but when people started living closer to each other in a Euro fashion, water drainage becomes a problem. Then guess what decides to lay eggs in water...
The climate just can't support it.
The areas that are doing well generally have a climate similar to some part of Europe, if you'll notice. The lifestyle suits the climate, therefore it thrives. India isn't doing half as well as you might like to say it is, as it still has massive problems. Same with parts of Southeast Asia.

Africa has the harshest climate there is. If it was so easy to colonize and overpopulate and claim as their own, the Europeans would have done so, but its harsh place and their main concern was using the resources it offered with putting as little money into it as possible. Some places only recieve rain once a year if at all. Some places are sparse.
The climate and harsh conditions of Africa make it difficult. Places like Cape Town thrive because they are near water. Everywhere else it is rife with difficulty.

Oh honey you've really got a lot to learn....If you've never been to Africa then I'd suggest you stop making judgements based on the lies you see on television....
I've been to Africa several times and it was absolutely beautiful and the people there are so intelligent and so polite...they speak about 6 or 7 different languages fluently.
It's nothing like they show on t.v.!

I heard if Africans lived the way we do, we would need 2 more planets for all the natural resources that we use up per person. With that huge population, it is in nobodys interest for them to prosper.

Because they need to have birth control over there, and then they can feed their people . Over the years we gave them food and tents but they think having kids to tkae care of them when they get older will help, no, give them the 5 year implant and tell them if they do that they get a cash incentive then the country will turn around with less kids dying from everything and also if mama is not pregnant all the time she can work in the garden to bring food to the table instead od taking care of a starving baby with flies all over it they need to learn birth control , and have money incentive to do that and then instead of 15 kids get ahead in the world with money with this implant to get a garden of food going on instead of thinking you have starving kids to take care ofI have seen on TV for 40 years these starving kids give them an implant and money for having it implanted and then they can take care of their family they have instead of bringing more in the world to starve

Because....
Africa is rich in resources and governments like the US WANTS the tribes to continue to fight so that, as long as the Africans DON'T get their s*%t together, the other more properous nations can continue to fill their pockets.
Let's face it. IF they REALLY want to, US (and prob the UN) CAN go in and sort out all the crap. Just like Iraq. But it's in their interest not to.
If Africa sorts itself out they could be another China, and why would the 'developed' nations, in particular the States, want to have another 'super-power candidate'??

well it is not a lack of resources, they have oil,gas,metals.....
probably the most likely reason is that they never quite grew up, they are too busy killing one another to build anything of consequence at least in modern times. They act more like animals than the intelligent people they have the potential to be.
