It's been happening alot more than you know about. It just doesn't always make it to the front page or headline the newscast. It's a matter of people losing control of themselves and their emotions. People don't realise what they are getting themselves into, and when they feel they have no other alternative, they flip their lids, and take as many people as they can down with them. There's no excuse for not getting assistance with managing emotions any longer. Help is out there and gratuitous if one can not afford it. We'd all rather have someone get help rather than go on a killing spree.

Stress, anxiety, depression, etc...that has not been checked. Why not just run away and leave your kids and husband? I wish there was a simple answer. It is very scary and sad to hear such things. How could a Mother kill her children? We have heard of the new male conqueror killing off his kidnapped bride's children (in both the animal and human society) so she can produce his own heir, and that is not right either. But a Mother should always protect her young.

It is not only women who do this but also men. This is something that society has to deal with as a whole. To blame these crimes on a person being male or female is wrong and extremely sexist and irresponsible. This is clearly a problem directly related to domestic violence and child abuse and people should be lobbying for a better safety net, and more education about warning signs and prevention of these aberrant behaviours.
Could you supply some concrete evidence of the statistics to support and increase.

1) Why is it increasing? Because the media coverage is much more informing than 30 years ago.
2) What can we do to stop this? Doctors, (as in the case of the woman whom suffered previous bouts of post partum depression before having another child, and exhibited the same type depression that was apparent.) Family members, coworkers, friends need to be more viligant when anyone is behaving strangely, making comments, it is usually pre-meditated to a degree.
3) It is not exclusive to America, read the news in Feb 2007 in Belgium, woman killed her five children. India March 15 2004 whom doused her children in kerosene and set them a fire and they perished. It's all over the world.
Yes, it's tragic.

There are so many answers to this but one in particular that I will point out, post partum depression...and it is not a joke...it is a real thing...when you have a child, your body changes and for many years women were nothing more than child bearers .
I have one daughter and felt the post partum depression coming on which I did not understand...It is our whole society breakdown, which has been coming on for decades and it is another step where women have taken a horrible stand, I hope this helps in some way...I really don't understand it either but what is more frightening is when two young boys brandish weapons and start shooting their classmates.. All of us have to change things..take care...

Anyways, this is a problem that shouldn't be labeled as a man did it or a woman did it, but rather, it should focus on the crime itself. And both genders should get the same amount of jail time and/or the death penalty. I dont know how anybody, not just woman, but even men, can kill babies and children?!?!? they are innocent little people who don't even know what's going on......I think this world needs to start over again.

Um. Probably because no one who has a gun in America is afraid to use it.
A man near my hometown just shot his two young children and himself because his wife recently divorced him.
And motherhood just doesn't always work like a fairy tale. Mothers are only human, too. The myth that mothers are all-loving and angelic just doesn't work. Having kids is stressful, especially when you get little support from the person whose sperm created the other half of the child. My mother was simply miserable as a housewife and I don't blame her one bit.

Few women in America "nowadays" are killing their husbands/children.
The majority of spouses killed in the US are women, by their husbands or ex husbands. Check out the FBI stat's for 2006. One of the major causes of death on the job for US women: murder by a spouse or ex-husband-you gotta work to eat, so you're easy to track and kill.
Why do so many US men kill their wives and ex-wives and their kids? Why can't men control their emotions? What can *you* do to stop these men?

Such a woman has to be an extreme nutcase. Saying she had an abusive husband won't sell me over, cause why didn't she spare the kids. Many have excusese such as Satan told me if I did it he would reward me and so on and so forth.
To make it plain between you and me I am one American woman who would never do such a thing and I have no intentions and never have.
