Put aside strictly psych categories, or rote responses about assumed perceptions of self worth. Isn't ego more beautifully created by engaging a poetic spontaneity that identifies with the now in a free form? Entering into an activity with your borders a bit fuzzy. Allowing the other of events to permeate with a richer presence. Then retaining in orbit what is comfortably stimulating until it either draws closer to permanence or drifts away forgotten.

Ego should be light, like the needle of a compass floating on its bed that feels subtle pulls so well it always finds north.

Ego is our sense of self that is associated with things we consider "ours". This glass is mine, this keyboard is mine, this thought is mine. This idea that our self is attached to that object or concept (ego can be attached to group identities as well) arises from our wants or desires.

What should the ego be? Silent. Those without ego's, who don't have "mine" attached to things have less to worry about. If you have a lot of stuff, for example, you are more worried that someone might take something, or that some mishap will happen to a possession. This sort of wealth influences your desire, and when you have desire, you don't have the peace of mind of contentment. That is the problem with wanting, if you want something, then you are not being content in the moment you are in, and personally I would rather live a life of contentment then a life of dissatisfaction, of not being satisfied. It's always "when I finally get that promotion" or "soon I'll have a house and then I can be happy" or whatever, and that sort of happiness is temporary. Houses burn down and people get fired. Life happens. But if you reduce your ego, so instead of spending time experiencing the agony of anger and frustration from something not going as planned, you are just content instead, you will lead a happier life. Whatever it is that has angered you is already true and no amount of energy will un-do the event. So if instead you are content, you will have a calm and rational mind for which to deal with the problem.

Hardly.

This is the process of thought, where the individual disengages from others and the environment. It has the semblance of autism.

Ego is a metaphysical construction -- an abstraction.

Please show where your ego is. What does it weight? What size or shape is it? Point to it.

-_-' please specify which ego you speak of: the ego Sigmund Freud referred to, or ego as in "self-pride." Also, how can an object be "more beautifully created??" Isn't beauty a subjective categorization?

since the definition of ego is self or I, there is no other it concerns itself with.
