White Day is March 14 -- guys give gifts back to all the girls who gave them gifts on Valentine's Day in Japan.
(-: It's really messed up -- on V-day, only the girls give gifts. But they often give "obligatory gifts" like a chocolate bar wrapped up in nice paper to their bosses and the rich guys, and then the rich guys are "obligated" to give back something nice, or they risk looking cheap!
It's called "White Day" because originally guys were supposed to give their girlfriends white panties.
Mid-winter is a great time for Japanese stores -- there's Setsubun on Feb. 2, V-day on Feb. 14, Girls' Day (Doll Festival) on March 3, and then White Day on March 14. Nobody wants to buy anything else for the next three months!
