I have a '99 FXDWG, I'm an old fart, (almost 50.) my coverage is from Markel American, thru H-D. I live in Florida and it is not necessary to have M/C insurance in this state unless you ride without a helmet. (ME! Never.) I have the standard policy, 10/20/50. No coverage for fire or theft. I pay $182.30 for a year. No accidents, no tickets or violations in the past three years. Policy is for daily use since I don't own a car. Bike is my regular transportation. Hope you get what you need from this. Ciao!

Oh please, search back through the answers already. *sigh* Okay, once again:

$75/year from Progressive, minimum legal liability coverage for California. Motorcycle is used for commuting to work, less than 11,000 miles/year.
47 years old. No claims, been with Progressive for, maybe, ten years.
Motorcycle is a 1985 Yamaha Virago 700.
It's parked in an open garage in Los Angeles California.

Edit: It's not a sportbike. It's a metric mini-cruiser.

I am 45 have Gieco full coverage on a Goldwing and a Sportster, my cost $165 per year. If your are considering a sport bike/crotch rocket then expect a higher insurance premium since insurance companies consider these high risk. I also found that if you put your bike on a separate policy than your car, this will also save you money.

I'm an avid bicyclist without bike insurance. Bike insurance does not cover injury, so I don't get the point.

Normally, you buy insurance against risks that you cannot afford. The risk of bike theft is silly unless you have an emotional attachment to getting compensated if you get ripped off.
