and this way the government wouldn't be "doing it"... but businesses, probably a group of several businesses...

and such huge contracts would almost have to save billions just in the bulk alone...

I'm afraid our government is driven by profit, the campain funding would dry up if no profits were to be made... and they can't allow that... so how do we work inside that system...

wow... please study countries like say Canada who have done this non-sense. Though it may look good on paper and sounds all rosie, it is really detrimental to the health of society. Think about it... you would now have the government determining the type of treatment you receive... look at medicare... that is a mess as it is... do you think it would improve? People from Canada come to the states all the time for health care because the government will not approve what they need or the time frame for them to get treatment is really unsuitable.

When will people realize that we have the greatest health care system in the world? They have no idea how fortunate we are... we have all the latest developments in treatment and medical procedures and.... even without insurance we have free clinics that are far superior in treatment to many countries in the world and in serious cases treatment can't be refused at a Hospital..... what more do you want?

This looks like it has possibilities. We need to keep the private insurance companies in the picture but not deciding on healthcare. We need the government involved to assure everyone is taken care of, we need healthcare providers charging reasonable fees and that one can get an appointment in a reasonable time. Finally we need to be sure to include the drug companies with limits on what they can charge. The private companies deserve a profit but not obscene profits. All of that can be worked out in a reasonable healthcare program. Actually I believe it would be alot less costly and therefore premiums and co pays can be kept low and, if necessary, on a sliding scale based on what one can afford.

This is the problem with privatizing government programs and responsibilities.

In fact privatizing airport security is probably what led to the minimum wage untrained immigrants guarding the airport gates on 9/11.

That is what state medicaid is, and those are going broke everywhere. And those on medicaid generally lose their right to determine healthcare and if federal funds are applied anywhere they will regulate the heck out of it, whether they have direct control or not.
