Hi Trish, the dreams vary very differently each time. It's been getting worse lately that after I just close my eyes for 5 minutes, the dreams started. It's out of control, I aren't even fully alseep yet! Thanks for your offer. Appreciate it

Firekitty: Thanks for your concern, many different things happen in my nightmare, they are very inconsistent, can be from ghosts strangling me to just plain sad emotions.

Try "directed dreaming"-- check the web for this. It can really work.

Also, write down important "scenes" from the nightmares. They are there for a reason. Something in your consciousness is being transferred into these dreams. You need to analyze your issues for a solution

OK. Perhaps you are eting beforeyou sleep? Don't eat 3 hours before you sleep and there on until you wake up. Even if it's fruit or vegetables it is unhealthy to be eating at the time. It causes some digestive problems that lead to stress in the mind.
Perhaps you need to seek medical help since it isnt normal for people to have nightmares that long. A recently proposed treatment consists of imagery rehearsal. This approach appears to reduce the effects of nightmares and other symptoms in acute stress disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder.
I'm almost sure you sleep as a normal prson should, not below 8 hrs. If not then do so from here on.

Good luck :)
I havent had nightmares in a long time. O and your other question about controlling your dreams. The only way will be lucid dreaming but most people have only done it in scientific labs and not in their own house -_- because its very very hard to do without professional help.

I experienced strange and vivid dreams aka nightmares when I was taking prescription pain meds. Sometimes I would litterally wake up in tears. The only think I could think of is maybe you are experience some type of chemical change in your body, or under a lot of stress. I found out if I had a glass of warm milk and did some isometric type stretches once I laid down, and completely relaxed myself my dreams weren't as vivid.
Good luck I hope you find a end to these nightmares, so you can get some good quality sleep.

I can't tell you how to stop them, because I honestly don't know, but I can tell you how to deal with them.
I dream every single night. And I have more than 2 each night. Some are nightmares and some are not. I don't know about anybody else, but I enjoy dreaming. Even if they are nightmares. I think of them as movies. For example, the nightmares would be the horror movies or thrillers. I used to be scared of my nightmares (some would cause me to wake up screaming), but after I thought about them as movies, I actually enjoy them.
Its the only time you'll be able to fly, shapeshift (I have, I don't know about you), and drive your car naked. But, its also the only time you will get chased by some demon, your whole family tries to kill you, and you fall off a cliff (which I think is fun in my dreams because it REALLY feels like I'm falling, kind of like an amusement park ride).

Hope I have been of some help. Good luck!!! If you don't mind me asking, what happens in your nightmares??

Hi Eric, Sounds to me that your mind is overload with to much of what is bothing you.You need to figure out what sort of things that is causing these nightmares.Do you have to much money problems that are hard to deal with,or have you broken-up with someone you care a lot about? Anything will cause nightmares specially if they are on your mind heavily.Try and work through this and figure out what has started all of this. Somewhere in your mind is the answer. Have a hot cup of coffee before you go to bed this will help relax you and maybe you won't have any nightmares. Try it and see if it helps you. P.S. NEVER GO TO BED WITH A FULL TUMMY THIS CAUSES NIGHTMARES TO..
A Friend.

What are they about? Dreams (and nightmares) are your subconscious' way of dealing with what you experience in real life. I have begun my falling dreams again and it is most likely because I have a new job and am still feeling a bit insecure there. If you give more info, I may be able to help a little.

I read that if you tell yourself as you drift off to sleep to dream about a particular dream that you will most likely dream of it. Try falling asleep with soft music and try to eliminate some stresses in your life. I, myself have this thing where I will fall asleep and then wake to not be able to move or see. I have to kick my leg to force off the feeling of paralysis... I noticed that it happens when I am highly stressed, so hope you shake those nightmares~

If it is a recurring nightmare it may be indicative of an unresolved emotional problem. If it is a variety of nightmares, stop "eating pizza" before bed, you need to relax before bedtime to get a good night sleep

I guess you'll just have to stop thinking about the problems of the world and how to solve them so that you can sleep restfully. What we think during our waking hours ends up in our dreams, moreso if you're sensitive to things and things make an impression on you.

there are two ways you can look at this
1. your dreams are trying to tell you something
2. dreams are simply your mind clearing itself of useless junk while you sleep

if you believe they are just junk then try writing about everything that is on your mind before you go to bed this could clear your mind so you can rest peacefully

if you believe they are trying to tell you something then try to stay asleep until the end of the dream sometimes you have to "see" in order to understand

I have heard that even in dreams you still have the ability to control your actions so if you are running from something turn around and face it

I hope this helps
