Crafts. Marc took 3 hours (h) to mow a lawn while Angelina took 150 minutes
(min) to mow the same lawn a week earlier. Write the ratio of Marc’s time to
Angelina’s time as a ratio of whole numbers.

Ok, I'm not understanding these ratio things. If I were to work this, I would say that it took Angelina 2 hours and 30 minutes and Marc 3 hours. Do I multiply that? I'm so confused, can you explain the process please? Thanks sooo much!

A ration is just the relationship between twor numbers. They're pretty close to fractions. So lets use your example.

The way you write ratios is putting the first number, a colon (:), and then the second number. So for this example, the ratio would look like this...

Mark's Time : Angelina's Time
3 : 2.5

It asks for a ratio of whole numbers, so now we have to simplify the ratio, or fraction as I like to think of it.

3 : 2.5
is the same as
6 : 5
which is your whole number ratio.

All I did there was multiply each number by 2 as to make 2.5 into a whole number.

I hope I was helpful. If you have anymore questions, feel free to ask me. Good luck!

You want Marcs time over Angelinas time

Marc = 3 hours = 180 min
Angelina = 150 min

the ratio is 180/150 = 18/15 = 6/5

You are making a mountain out of a lawn. Just do what the question asks. You may want to convert all numbers to minutes to get a ratio of whole numbers.
Ratio= 180/150
now reduce these to smaller numbers like 6/5

A ratio a:b is shorthand for the pair of fractions a/(a + b), b/(a + b). a million. 3/5 are boys = 12 2/5 = (12/3) x 2 = 8 2. 5/8 = 15 3/8 = (15/5) x 3 = 9 3. 4/5 = 20 a million/5 = 20/4 = 5

The answer is division!

3 h = 180 min

so if you divide 180/150 you will get 1.2 which means Marc spent 1.2 times more than Angelina to mow!

Good Luck

3 hours changed into minutes is 180 minutes. So the ratio is Mars's time to Angela's time. So, write Marco's time first.

180 : 150 ...... Simplify

180 can be divided by 10 and give 18.
150 can be divided by 10 and give 15.

18 : 15

We can further simplify it to

18 divided by 3 is 6.
15 divided by 3 is 5.

now it is,

6 : 5

6 and 5 can't be simplified any further. Even though 6 can, 5 must also be divisible. you can only simplify when both numbers can be divided by.

Basically, Angie took 2.5 hours, and mark took three. Now just stick them in a fraction. It says ratio OF mark TO angie.

That means in the fraction mark will be on top (remember the of) and angie on bottom (remember to).

So 3hr./2.5 hr.=3/2.5=6/5
