when i say horror, i dont think the ones where someone going on a killing rampage is scary. i am more affraid of things i connot see. ghost movies are the kind i like. things like the ring, ghost lake, haunted boat, an american haunting...things like that. i have already seen the obvious ones like chucky, freddy, jason, the ring, texas chainsaw massacre, the exorcist........ it is so hard to find a "scary" movie because i have yet to find one that actually scares me. i dont like old timey movies. and i am beginning to believe they will never make a true scary movie. i was wondering if anyone could recommend a movie that they think may be a lil scary. i have seen the popular ones and the classic ones. so any help will be very much appreciated. thanks!

One obvious one that isn't on your list would be Halloween, but if you've seen that then try The Amityville Horror, Poltergeist, Rose Red was made for TV but still had it's moments. But I do agree with you, I haven't seen a really good scary movie in a long time.

Shallow Ground was good. Go to my 360 and click on "movies I like" for a more comprehensive list. Half Light with Demi Moore was slow but very spooky and eerie. Hostel is too obvious, you've seen that. Evil Dead you may have seen, all time greatest. Sequels sucked. Phantasm, all of them, rock. The ORIGINAL The Fog, 1970's classic, one of the top 10 of all time.

I work at the movie theater and the best horror/scary movie out now is Vacancy. Everyone (young or old) that enters the theater to see that movie gives its a great review. I've also seen the movie, and i love horror flicks, and i give it a thumbs up. Another great movie to see is Fracture featuring Anthony Hopkins, It's the best movie out right now.

Event Horizon was fun.

They really don't have anything out that is originally scary everything is based on a shock and noise factor. I guess it depends on what you personally find frightening. For me 28 days later was frightening because of my experience with government work. Not only is it possible but absolutly plausible. Other than that nothing has effected me.

One of the scariest movies that I think you might like is "The Shining" (the one directed by Kubrick and starring Nicholson -- there was a made for tv one, more faithful to King's book, which wasn't nearly as good.

Also, check out Phantasm I and II.

One of the scariest movies I ever saw was In Dreams. It's not really horror, it's more of a psychological thriller, but I had nightmares for like a week.

Anything based on a true story freaks me out...The Mothman Prophecies is a great example.

'Ghost Story' - It is eerily spooky with a great storyline.
