Preventing the headache is as important as the cure. The cause of the headache needs to be discovered. Chemicals, Food, Stresslack of sleep , dehydration etc. All go to induce a headache. Lack of regualr bowel function, liver toxicity, and many more. As a past migrane sufferer they used to take me out. I now watch my diet, Lots of water , no sodas, very little juice, minimal sugar, more sleep, cut out the stress, cut out the caffiene (Alsthough some headaches resond well to coffee.caffiene but you have to be caffiene positive) Example, medium headache and one cup of coffee and it is gone for me. Cleansing the bowel and the liver. Natural remedies available. Using coffee enemas will also reduce headaches. Don't put on a band aid get to the bottom of it.
Someone suggested a food diary, but that needs to include a habit diary as well. The thumb and forefinger work well if liver is not involved or you are not toxic.
You have many wonderful answers so you should be on the right path to help these headaches be gone permanently.

Keep a headache diary to help identify the source or trigger of your symptoms. Then modify your environment or habits to avoid future headaches. When a headache occurs, write down the date and time the headache began, what you ate for the past 24 hours, how long you slept the night before, what you were doing and thinking about just before the headache started, any stress in your life, how long the headache lasts, and what you did to make it stop. After a period of time, you may begin to see a pattern.

A headache may be relieved by resting with your eyes closed and head supported. Relaxation techniques can help. A massage or heat applied to the back of the upper neck can be effective in relieving tension headaches.
My mom has suffered bad migraines for her entire life and unfortunately nothing helps her.. teas and relaxation exercises help a bit but don't take them away.. A doctor recommended anti-depressants but she does not believe she is depressed and refuses to take them... Meanwhile she lives with them and takes breaks from her everyday life when she gets them.. I feel so bad for her!

First you should make sure it isn't anything serious like high blood pressure. High or low blood sugar can also cause headaches. Treat the problem/cause of headaches is the main thing. We hurt for a reason. Stress/tension headaches,,,find a relaxing place, meditate. Sinus pain/pressure,,,try a decongestant. Peppermint Oil rubbed on the temples, and back of neck works great for stress headaches.

I get headaches if I haven't had enough food or water. The remedies for those headaches are natural. As for other headaches like tension headaches, yoga or other stretching exercises might help especially if they are a regular part of the day.

There is no conventional cure for headaches.

However, there are several things that you can do to alleviate the severity and frequency of your headaches. The most important is to identify the triggers to your headaches. Is it stress? Is it specific food? Then, find ways to address these triggers.

To simplify "Dr Soul's" answer, please do NOT take belladonna with out strict supervision from a practitioner, it is DEADLY poison in the wrong hands! If you just have a simple headache, White Willow Bark capsules (2 caps every 4 hours) will do the trick. Make sure you are using the whole herb variety of capsule. If you are using standardized dosing, follow the directions on the bottle to the letter. If you are suffering from migraine headaches, Feverfew tincture under the tongue will solve your problem. This plants nick-name is Migraine-few! If these don't work for you, but I have no indication to think they won't, please email me & we can "discuss" it further. Good Luck!

Headaches can be caused by minor problems
like eyestrain, lack of coffee or more serious reasons
like head injury, brain tumors, encephalitis and
meningitis. Taking painkillers continuously can
have harmful side effects, so it is better to
modify your lifestyle. More information available at

find the source of the excess pressure and stop doing it. Most likely its stress related. Mental stress causes muscles to get tight and increase the blood pressure. Since most of the blood goes to the brain, then there is a bottle neck occurring up there. The heart pumps it up but the muscles block the return of the blood. "Relax" Meditate a couple of times a day. Do some yoga. Take a long walk every day. Smell the flowers.

Take about a 2 hour nap with either a damp rag or ice pack on your forehead. Try to stay away from bright lights and televison, it can cause more discomfort. If neither of these things work my last tip is to take a hot, long shower (or bath).
I really hope this helps you. Good Luck
