Currently 3 theories are being explored:
cell phones
gm plants
a bee virus that has actually appeared before
None of the 3 have been positively confirmed as the cause yet.

No, there have been dramatic decline in bee populations before. So this case is not unique. I did see recent article that said it could be some type of fungus that is causing bees to struggle. But no one really knows for sure. Cell phone signal theory was just one of many wild guesses made by people. There's no supporting evidence for it.

If cell phones were putting off radiation or whatever and killing bees, they probably would be hurting humans as well.
I really doubt cell phones are the reason for a bee shortage.

I don't think so... -I mean, how many bees get phone calls? Don't they get THEIR news- off the grapevine? Cell phones are killing off PEOPLE; especially driving at high speeds on the Freeways. I see a couple of THESE -wracked up by the side of the road on my way to & from work every day. THOSE are the ones that are getting killed off by cell phones... Poor fools- gone to join the bees... :)

The bees are having a problem with a mite infestation, it has nothing to do with cell phones....
but I like that you put your question in this forum... the media is having a heyday with bees and Richard Gere's kiss in India...lol
No news? just manufacture some!

Thats right pal, you little phone is killing bees in Mexico or on the border. Even when you're not using it, those honey bees are still dead because of YOU.
Stop thinking that those really responsible have put out this tale to take blame off of them and put it onto you and me.

From what I've read, it's the varroa mite, also called the vampire mite. Researchers are looking for a treatment or a resistant strain of honeybee.
Cell phones! For heaven's sake! And how would that do it?
Not bloody likely.

There are many species that are suffering, have you looked at the rain forests maps. I hope its not too late. Because it sure as heck isnt their fault, as humans we use and use and use. God help us all. Stay in school and become a scientist and maybe with your help it will all change. Earth is a beautiful thing yet very fragile.

When I first heard this theory I thought it was the silliest, stupidest pseudo-science of the year.
Well, I still think so, but here is what is a more promising lead on what the problem might be:
