They aren't prisoners of war. They are unlawful enemy combatants. Unlawful enemy combatants may be detained until the end of the war, per the 4th Geneva Convention.
They aren't tortured. Being held in a prison does not constitute torture.
It was built in 1903, before Halliburton existed.
It was refurbished in 2003 by Brown & Root, a company with no ties to Halliburton.

Yes if they have such great human rights in there why then didn't they lock up John Walker Lind in there he committed the same crimes as David Hicks an Australian locked in there 5 years without trial and now conveniently he is coming home on the eve of the election with a gag order in place.
And I am not that saying either man is not guilty and deserve to be punished but the way both men were treated smacks of double standards by the American government.
I think they did not put any Americans in there is because they knew the outcry it would cause in the USA.

Well we are at WAR and they ARE POW's so I'm thinking we're breaking the laws of war by torturing.I don't know how they can decide these detainees fall into a different category. But then nothing about this war makes sense.I know it has Cheney's blessing.I don't know about Halliburton.

Guantanamo was thoroughly checked out by multiple groups including the UN. We have had isolated incidences of inappropriate conduct and treatment by military personel who have been fired and some are in prison.
Other than that they are being treated better than in any prison anywhere to paraphrase the UN.
